Album Description - "One of the most anticipated albums of 2003 filled with complex arrangements, haunting vocals and dark imagery that will leave fans in awe once again."
While I have never been a huge fan of Coheed and Cambria, I did enjoy certain songs (namely Devil in Jersey City, and Neverender). After seeing them a few weeks ago, my opinion of them changed dramatically. Their new music sounded quite appealing and I had to get myself a copy of their new album In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3.
Weighing in at just about 70 minutes, it is a CD packed with great music. There are very few CDs that you can listen to front to back without skipping songs. Coheed and Cambria managed to make one of those albums. Quick guitar riffs, insightful vocals, dynamics, you name it; it's all here.
A couple songs caught my ear in particular:
A Favor House Atlantic, the first single off of the album, has a strikingly catchy chorus. It happens to be one of those songs you will have stuck in your head for days. While this song isn't one of the most lyrically in-depth songs on the album, the music makes up for it.
Three Evils is a much more "rock and roll" song, with a steady guitar part. The vocals tell a much more noticable tale:
"slowly discarded were the remains of his lonely youth
among the alley where the dwellers scare to notice
picture a young boy in pieces and streets with leveled malfunctions
no name to be called redeemer
We'll fix him restore him...with the love is no other
think of all the things you did before
write them in a letter that says reborn"
- Coheed and Cambria - Three Evils
I am a big fan of not buying something until I know I will be getting my money's worth. If you would like to listen to some of the new CD before you decide to buy it, here are a few links you will enjoy:
Sony Music - 30 Second Clips of all the songs on the album!
CoheedandCambria.com - Full download of The Crowing, and Devil in Jersey City!
If you find you would like to buy a copy of the album, Amazon.com has it for $10 (great price):
