Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Preview!

Publisher: Square-Enix and Visual Works
Release Date:Year 2005

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children continues the Final Fantasy VII story 2 years after the game ends.

After Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was released fans were screaming for something more related to a real Final Fantasy title. A few years later, Square finally responded to the uproar with information about their next film, Final Fantasy: Advent Children. Final Fantasy: Advent Children takes place two years after the Final Fantasy VII story ends. We’re unsure how Square will manage to justify their story and character selection, since at the end of Final Fantasy VII, the world is struck by Meteor and appears to be blown into oblivion. However, there is much debate to this day about the final fate of the world when the game ends. Despite the complications between the point in which one story ends and another begins, this new computer generated (CG) movie looks promising. Technology has had an opportunity to advance beyond the capabilities that were available for The Spirits Within, and will definitely allow Square to create more life-like human characters. The current trailer exposes such main characters from the Final Fantasy VII game as Cloud Strife, Sephiroth, Barret Wallace, Tifa Lockhart, Vincent Valentine, and Aeris. They all appear to be amazingly well rendered and much more real than the characters in The Spirits Within. Unfortunately, unlike The Spirits Within, Advent Children is planned for a straight to DVD release. If you’re into CG movies, or really enjoyed Final Fantasy VII (who didn’t?), then Advent Children will probably be something you’ll enjoy.

A nice shot of Cloud Strife from the trailer movie.
