Google has just released the beta of a new project aimed at dislodging MapQuest's map system. maps.google.com has a very clean interface, driving directions, and location lookup. Although in beta, it looks very promising already and most likely will get better as time goes on. I'd recommend taking a quick look at what it could do for you.
Based on a few quick tests around Michigan, the directions seem to be accurate, as well as it giving the fastest way. Way to go Google!
