The guys at Wired News have posted an interesting article about gene therapists who have tweaked HIV and put it inside another gene (sindbis). After the gene therapy, the new HIV hunts down and destroys cancerous cells. Huge success has already been reported in lab animal tests. Some might worry about being purposefully given the HIV virus, but the scientists say it has been so mutated that 80% of the gene isn't there any more, it is just a carrier.
