Hunter S Thompson has been found dead in his Aspen home. The legendary writer and creator of "Gonzo" journalism was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A work many of you may know Hunter for was his book (later a movie) Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
According to the State News:
"I have this feeling that he didn't kill himself out of anger, he didn't kill himself to get even with anybody. It was just a last melancholy moment for a career that was basically over,"

McWhirter spent time with Thompson covering the end of the Vietnam war.
