Microsoft to Premier Xbox2 on MTV, May 12

According to Reuters, today Microsoft publicly announced that "it would unveil the next generation of its Xbox video game console in a May 12 special on ... MTV." Elijah Wood, famous Lord of the Rings actor, is to host the MTV premier event which will be broadcast around the world in many European nations as well as Japan.

After premiering the next generation of Xbox on May 12, Microsoft will undoubtedly bring its latest creation to the E3 Expo which will be held the following week in Los Angeles. Microsoft, a large, influential software company, has relatively recently entered into the video game market and gained a large market share due to their overwhelmingly popular Halo for Xbox. Microsoft is looking to increase their market share by stealing it from well known Sony and Nintendo. Is there enough room in the industry for all three companies to subside in harmony, or will Microsoft be the end-all of Sony's video game division and Nintendo as we know them?
