ATI's R520 (aka x900) to be Announced, Released on Same Day

Many sources are reporting that ATI's new R520 GPU, also known as the x900 (leaked specifications available here), will be announced and released on the same day. This move comes as a result of a recently published third quarter loss by ATI, as well as the recent release of nVidia's 7800GTX video card. It is speculated that ATI could have announced the release of the R520 at Computex tech show, but instead it wants to be sure that the R520 GPU is available for the public when announced.
