Absolute Insight just started hosting a mini Ventrilo Server for those of you who frequent around this place. Jump on, talk to the other people if you want, it should be on nearly 24/7, but i can't promise anything.

Ventrilo is a voice chat program, takes very little memory, and all you need is a speakers. A mic lets you talk to others, but speakers allow you to hear everyone.

To start using, go to www.ventrilo.com and download the client. Type in the server as: 65.13.42.209
There is currently no password, if people abuse the channel ill have to set a password...
Currently, it is best if you use headphones, this prevents peoples voices from coming out your speakers, and straight back into the mic, called Ghosting. If possible, use headphones and a push-to-talk key.

The ventrilo server is currently down while Impact is in the process of his move. It will be back up and running in a few days. We'll keep you posted with the details.

Just checking ^_^. It'll be nice to get that server back up and running again. We were thinking of trying to get a hold of some microphones in the future as give away items so that more people could log on and participate on the ventrilo server. Who knows when this'll happen because right now any money spent on AI stuff comes out of Impact or Haggs pocket books.

righto, im set up with ventrilo as well, but hte mic here is downstairs and my dads on that comp a lot so im not gonna be on too much. i really should ask for a mic for new years.

When Impact gets his server back up and happy we hope to have a ventrilo server for everyone with an easy to remember address ^_^. He got DNS working the other day so that we can have xxxxx.absoluteservers.net point to any IP address we assign.

Yup, I don't think I'll be using Vent any time soon, due to them not having a Linux client, I'll be using TeamSpeak, but I have a good feeling the server will be running both TS and Vent servers. I'll add that to my list of things to do today.

Yup. Hopefully they finish the Linux Vent client soon. Its been in dev. for a while now...
They had a 1.0 client for linux back in the day, just no 2.x yet..

Let me know when you get this setup cause they change our IPs around at the U of MN and it pisses me off...
