So, with my laptop having built in wireless, naturally I wanted to use it in my dorm room. I bought a belkin wireless/wired router. It set up just fine and all that. When we plug different hardware into the wall, I.E, desktop, laptop, router, we have to log in again with it. So i logged in, and can connect fine.
HOWEVER, for some reason AI, which was my startup page, wont come up. It redirects me to the login page for school, which i was only supposed to see once. And the login page gives me an error. I can access the forums, obviously, but not the main page. Dont ask me why, and I'm sure its a problem with the schools networking mumbo jumbo, but ya.

What school do you go to? The school I go to, requires you authenticate your wireless access everytime you open your browser, this prevents non-students from abusing the wireless access. It might be your router that's messing it up, sometimes school networks are set up so that you can't use routers, as crazy as that sounds.

Hmmmm so the symptoms are now on your main machine? And the laptop is fine?

Perhaps they only let you reg. 1 comp...
If both go through the router, then their system should only see one IP, the router...
Explain a bit more?

lol, its not that big of a deal. i only get the registration page on http://www.absoluteinsight.net, which was my homepage at the time. i can still view the forums on my desktop, and everything is fine on my laptop. both of them go through the router, the desktop is wired in, and the laptop is wireless.

I dunno if your network is like ours here, but ocassionally we have weird random problems happening for seemingly no reason. I'm not sure what the network admins are doing behind the scenes, but I'm sure that at least half of it is entirely unnecessary.

If our network was run entirely by students, we would never have any problems and have a massive dc hub setup on the gigabit systems. All the admins are incompetent. They like to close random ports on random days.

If a network were run by students, chances are they would cap the bandwidth to the rest of the network to 200Kbps and devote the rest of it to pr0n and game servers Laughing

I meant that the remaining bandwidth would go to the 4 or 5 computers they would be using. Laughing
