Just ordered another server today Very Happy

3Gb Space
150Gb Bandwidth
php, SQL, Cpanel, Fantastico, etc....

I'll be using this one for mine and the old lady's website's.

My old one:
1Gb Space
50Gb Bandwidth

I'll use it probably just for linking stuff and some friends websites as its not very reliable.

Only $45 US per year including a .com domain

Awesome Very Happy

On my old server i've used upto 10Gb in one month. But they are just too unreliable, should be good when this new one is finally setup.

Awesome. We tend to cut our picture sizes down, and we really hacked at the new layout to make it as bandwidth-efficient as possible, that way we dont use our whole allotment. However, when we get linked from major sites, we've gone over our 5gb limit. Hope we don't get slashdotted anytime soon =P

I wouldn't have a clue.

Although, I pinged it the other day and got an average response of 450ms. This is on dial-up, in another country.

Whereas my old server wouldn't even ping, always timed out.

Well here's an update on my ADSL installation....

This morning (Friday, 10th December), I got up at around 8:30am to see my Mum and Little Bro off to go to a funeral (Grand Father in Laws, didn't know him). Anyways, I sat around watching Satellite twiddling my thumbs for a few hours waiting for that glimer of hope (which is the ISP Tech), to show up and give me bliss that is Broadband which I have been somewhat patiently waiting 18 months for.

The time gets to around 10:30am before I become a bit paranoid and worried/anxious. So I give the not so friendly/helpful people at the ISP support desk a ring and eventually after being put on hold for 20mins was actually able to talk to a pretty frienly fellow, who was of English decent which was a change from most of the Asian people i've talked to who you'd think hadn't talked a word of English for more than 2 months. He informed me that a Tech will be out at 12pm to take away our dreaded ISDN and our ADSL connection will be turned on at 2pm.

I happily hung up with a sigh of relief. Off to watch some more TV, eat and check emails. Come 12:30pm I start to become paranoid/anxious again. Every slight noise I heard would send me tearing out to the front door, only to see thumbleweeds rolling across my driveway.

Come 2pm i'm rather pissed and ring the support desk again for another 20min wait on hold, then only to be transferred to a different department to be put on hold for another 10mins. I was then told that they do not work in the rain (it happened to be a light drizzle) and that they had re-scheduled for Monday the 13th of December.

Well THANK-YOU for informing me.

So the Saga continue's of my struggles to get a high speed internet connection.

Although, they do say "3rd times a charm"....

Sorry for the rant, but I feel a little better now.

Cheers.

We had one of those, except it was the power, and not internet (although the internet depends on power). Hopefully they come on Monday. Broadband is a wonderful thing.

I was on a 1500k connection before I moved here, 18 months on Dial Up has been a living hell...

I'm not saying its that bad for me, but I'm at home, using VNC to use my comp, and I absolutely hate MSU's 10kbs upload cap... I cant even use my college machine via VNC at a reasonable speed.
