| |
The guys in the forums have been requesting more Cell information. So I've scavanged about and pulled out a few interesting links that I think could help you guys out. The Cell processor is a completely new architecture, with no ties to x86. It is multi-core and runs at a claimed 4ghz (although this is a bad way to measure). By many the Cell is rumored to fall into the "Supercomputer" category. Although created primarily for the Playstation3 (2005 release), there are also supposed to be Cell processors in desktop computers by the end of 2004. How much of this is hype, and how much is true, only time will tell.

| Wow, just wow. After scanning those three links, I think its safe to say that the Cell has a lot of potential. At the very least, it has already changed the way that designers and engineers look at developing microprocessors. |
