| |
According to CNET:
"SAN FRANCISCO--Microsoft said it plans next month to offer long-awaited 64-bit versions of its Windows operating system.
"Windows chief Jim Allchin said the desktop version of the souped-up Windows would come at the beginning of April, while the server version would come at the end of the month."
Operating systems lisences aren't cheap, so the question now becomes whether or not it is worth the money for the upgrade? We'll have to wait and see the features and benchmarks after release to make that decision. |

from what I've read in a few benchmarks done on beta versions of x86_64 windows, theres a 3% gain using XP64 over XP... Thats _really_ sad considering you have a larger cache, and a double-wide chip...
Of course, much may have changed since the beta... but a 3% improvement is worthless... should be seeing _much_ more... |

Ooooh, this should be good.
I haven't had the time to try the Beta version, but the final version should be interesting... |
