sorta anyway... the first ever "mutant" is discovered in germany. its a 5 yr old kid who was born with a mutated gene. it prevents his body from producing myostatin, the protein that prohibits muscle growth. he has 2x the muscle, and 1/2 the fat of the average kid his age. he can hold 7# weights out with his arms extended sideways.

Woah, that's crazy. Just wait till medical researchers figure out how to mutate that gene manually... We could see some really crazy stuff goin on. |

:10bux: says he's dead before puberty. all of our genetics are the same for a reason, we're all alive. Usually the freaks of the animal kingdom, the ones that start to deviate from normal genetic profiles die early, mainly because the genetics are there for reason of protecting us, such this gene that limits muscle growth, there are many numerous problems that can arise from unregulated muscle growth, such as metabolism problems and even heart disease and many othere diseases that we don't usually think of first when you think of children.
but eh, gene therapy is still one of those things that can either revolutionalize the quality of human life or destroy it. we'll see in due time. |

| I disagree, i think its very possible for a mutation to occur. Its the whole idea of evolution. If this kid lives a full and healthy life, theres a chance his kids will have beastly strength. Just the evolutionary process... |

yup
eventually our hearts will just have to be stronger. Also, the heart is a muscle. Whats to say it doesn't grow 2x as strong as normal?
Quite possible.. |

umm..sorry to rain on your parade, but big heart != good
one of the easiest ways for a cardiologist or anybody for that matter, to tell if you are at risk of heart disease, have heart disease, or other heart related problems is to take a sonogram of your heart, an enlarged heart usually means trouble. When a heart enlarges, it usually means it enlarges to keep pace with your resting circulation, not with your high-activity circulation, meaning sports atheletes don't have enlarged hearts, but 500lb guys that sit at home and eat pizza's do.
i still consider this a fluke, and not really evolution, those who argue otherwise please go read a biology book. Evolution happens over millions of years, not over thousands, we are evolving, but in a miniscule way, we are now taller and heavier, but otherwise everything is about the same as it was back in the dark ages. |

Read, Comprehend, Post.
Please follow these instructions from now on. I stated that we are now taller then we were before, but reading is apparently difficult for you. |

what Watchman and what you said are 2 different things Watchman said that people in the dark ages had very short lives, this has changed and we live longer now
but you now are talking about being taller than we were which is true
but if you're gonna complain at least be on the same grounds |
