I'm just curious to see if anyone's been following how the elections went over there and what you think about them. Will they change things? We can only hope I guess. Any thoughts?

all ive heard is they were a "stunning success" "amazing turnout" "insiration to us all" i havent heard any facts except that its an election, its bringing democracy to Iraq and the people are risking their lives by voting. Ive mostly just heard that same rhetoric

well my info is kinda like keysers, but a bit more in depth. like keyser said, there was a good voter turnout, but not all the ethnic groups in Iraq participated(the sunnis didnt vote), and if a democracy is gonna be in Iraq, then that means that all the citizens eligible and able to vote should for a more fair, balanced turnout. also, i think the first task of the new leader is going to be to neutralize the insurgents that constantly disturb the peace.
