Getting into E3 and you.

Online Reporters:
Only journalists with commercial news Web sites qualify for E3 2005 media badges. Sites must be previously established and updated regularly with original and current interactive entertainment industry news. Fan sites, personal Web site writers, designers, editors or creators cannot be registered as media. Click here to register as a general attendee for E3 2005.
To qualify as online media, provide:
A. A copy of your driver's license or government issued photo identification clearly showing your name and date of birth (no one under 18 will be admitted), AND
B. A copy of your business card with name, editorial title and media outlet's logo, AND
C. A PRINTED copy of your online publication with your name and title appearing in an editorial capacity, including a bylined interactive entertainment industry-related article from your publication written by you and published within the last six months (the copy must clearly show the name of the publication and your byline), AND
D. A copy of the Web site's business license or government issued documentation showing the business's federal tax identification number.
E. Please note: The name on your business card and your photo identification must match to be accepted. |

The hardest part of this seems to be getting a buisness license for AI and getting a buisness federal tax ID number. Another way we might be able to get around this is to somehow turn AI into a non-profit site, non-profit organizations have federal tax ID numbers. |

| I think we can make this a goal for next year's E3. Thoughts? Another question I have is what do they mean by "Only journalists with commercial news Web sites qualify for E3 2005 media badges." Does commercial site mean that we're a registered company, or does that just means we write for a .com/.net? |

| I think the whole 'commercial site' semantics has more to deal with legitamate reporters/writers going, they want to weed out the guy who writes in his blog so that all 3 of his Everquest friends can read about it. I think this also ties into the federal tax ID number, which would legitimize you as a commercial site, considering you're paying taxes. I'll look some more, I know that if you qualify to get into E3 if you work at a place like EB games though, even though you're barely in the gaming industry. |
